Message from the Principal
Well, the Back to School Commercials are airing on our local cable channels and our Sunday papers are overflowing with Back to School Sales. We all know these signs mean only one thing, so WELCOME BACK!!! I hope everyone, indeed, had a great summer.
Our first day of school this year is Tuesday, September 5th. As a reminder, our starting time is 8:55a.m. and we dismiss at 3:10p.m. Each morning, we line up on the courtyard/blacktop area and begin to enter the building at 8:50am. On days when it rains, we line up in the cafeteria. Our staggered dismissal process begins a few minutes before 3:10, with walkers exiting the side doors of the building and onto the courtyard/blacktop area. For your child’s safety, please make sure you are on time when picking your child up.
One last item to place on everyone’s radar, is that our Annual Open House is scheduled for Monday, September 25th. There will be two sessions that evening. We will have a K-2 presentation starting at 6:30, in the cafeteria, followed by breakout sessions with classroom teachers. Then there will be a 3-5 presentation, also in the cafeteria, followed by breakout sessions with classroom teachers. Open House is a great opportunity to get a “feel” for your child’s learning environment as well as learn about routines, expectations and curriculums. If you ever want to schedule an individual conference with your child’s teacher to discuss progress or a personal matter, you may certainly do that at any other time during the year.
In closing, we are all looking forward to another successful and rewarding year. The teachers and I have been learning much about new literacy, science and technology initiatives throughout the summer. We can’t wait to share what we have learned with our students.
Have a great rest of the summer. I look forward to seeing you all soon!!!
