Message from the Principal
It’s officially spring! Soon the robins will be building their nests, daffodils and tulips will be in full bloom and moms and dads will be juggling homework, dinner and spring sports’ schedules. I know spring is a busy time; hang in there!
This month, our third through fifth graders will be taking part in the PARCC assessment system (Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers) in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics. The PARCC assessment, which is aligned to our standards, reflects what students are expected to know and be able to do in each grade. The PARCC assessment, along with the various other forms of assessment we use, provide important information on teaching and learning in order for us to continually improve as a community of learners. On average, ELA sessions will take students one hour to complete, while math will take students about 40 minutes. There will be three days of testing for ELA and four for math.
Also this month, the majority of our fifth graders will be visiting their next school, Hope Highlands Middle. During this visit, students will get to meet their new administrative team, learn about classes and extracurricular activities available to them as well as tour the building. Most importantly, however, it will be the first time all the future sixth graders will come together as the Class of 2024. What an exciting time for all!!!!
I hope everyone has a restful and safe April vacation.
